How do I know if my shower needs regrouting?
Your shower may need regrouting if the grout is cracked, loose, missing, permanently discolored, or deteriorating. We recommend inspecting the shower first to determine whether regrouting is appropriate or whether there may be a deeper moisture or waterproofing issue.
Can you regrout a shower without removing the tiles?
Yes, in many cases. If the tiles are firmly bonded and the waterproofing system is not compromised, deteriorated grout can often be repaired or replaced without removing the existing tiles.
Do you replace the silicone when regrouting a shower?
Yes, when required. Failed or deteriorated silicone is removed, and appropriate joints, corners, and changes of plane are resealed using 100% silicone.
How long should I wait before using the shower after regrouting?
Curing time depends on the grout, silicone, and conditions of the shower. We provide the recommended waiting time after the work is completed.
Can regrouting fix a leaking shower?
It depends on the cause. Regrouting can repair deteriorated surface joints, but it cannot repair a failed waterproofing system or structural problem. This is why we inspect the shower before recommending the repair.
Do you perform moisture testing before shower repairs?
When there are signs of possible moisture problems, we may recommend a moisture test before beginning the repair. This helps determine whether regrouting and recaulking are appropriate.
